We have some exciting news!
As you may know, we have been opening our brewery taproom once a month. We love opening the doors of the brewery because it is a great opportunity for us to be able to show people what we are about, to get to know our customers and to be able socialize with our community!
Our taproom openings have served as a great window for us to receive feedback from our customers and to see what they think about our beers. Luckily the feedback has always been positive!! We are asked many times why don’t we open up our taproom more often? The fact of the matter is that we have limited space and the warehouse is very much working space and the open days effect production. So unfortunately, opening more would mean brewing less beer and brewing beer is of course our main focus.
So because of this we have been looking for a small pub/bar local to the brewery, somewhere where we are able to showcase our beers and test out some of our experimental brews as well as a few other great beers from other breweries we know and like.
So on that note we are very pleased and very excited to announce that we have just received the keys to our first pub!
The pub is currently known as the Wig & Gown (N7 8LT) and is located in the heart of Islington, Holloway Road (where else). It is less than 700 metres from the brewery and we have some great things planned for the pub.
We are looking to fully renovate the pub and are aiming to launch the new pub around late May/ early June. However, as the pub in its current guise has a big Arsenal following on match days and what with Lee (our founder) being a big Arsenal fan too, in the interim where possible we wanted to continue opening up the pub on match days prior to the full renovations. Starting with todays match (2nd April). We will have Hammertons beer on of course but other than that not many changes until the full refurb, so please bear with us.
We will update you on the official opening closer to the time, but watch this space!!
Rather late to blog about this, we must find more time for our blog.
But a few months back we had some exciting news in that Hammerton Brewery won the top two Awards at the SIBA London & South East Beer Competition 2015 which is a massive achievement for us.
There are some great brewers in our region so the competition was high but the 90 independent judges went in favour of N1 and N7 to take the top spots. We have been advised that never before has Gold and Silver overall been awarded to one brewery in the competition. We ended up scooping 7 awards in the end. See below for more details, including the link to the full SIBA winners.

We have been working so hard this year and we are really happy to receive such recognition in the industry, it’s great to be appreciated. We are also very grateful for the amazing support from our current customers, new and old.
